Veronica’s Story

The Sisters of Providence, Sojourner Place, Fundraising Video

Every once in awhile we get the chance to tell an extraordinary story. Having a desire to ‘give back’ to our community I became aware of a special cause while having a couple of beers with my friend and composer, Stephen Cavit. Stephen told me he was helping out at a shelter for women and children in crisis. This facility, and another transitional house for women, Sojourner Place, are sponsored by The Sisters of Providence and he mentioned they had a fund-raising breakfast coming up.

My first reaction was, “The Edge can help by creating a video for your event’. My team and I researched both facilities; this was an eye-opening experience to be sure…but our aim, as it always is, was to find a story with emotional impact.

That’s when we were introduced to Veronica.

Words fail to describe the admiration and sheer amazement I felt when Veronica told me her story over coffee. She held nothing back in describing her spiral into some very dark places… and her journey back.

This was a pro bono piece for our company, and projects like this can bring out the best in everyone. We were very lucky to have Bill Thompson shooting video and stills for us…a true talent.

If I had my doubt that people possess the ability to change, Veronica assured me that anything is possible. ~Peter

Wow Peter… every once in a while there are people you meet who make it “all worth it” right? This is incredible – thank you for sharing.

I have a friend whose 17 year old daughter is a carbon copy of Veronica’s early story. I will make sure this gets to their family. Beautiful work, inspiring message of hope.
