Gentlemen Start Your Engines

Microsoft North America (MSNA), Microsoft Global Exchange

The best way to develop a strong, engaging keynote presentation is to engage the executive presenter. If the presenter is excited about the creative theme and content that supports his or her message, the presentation will have energy, momentum, and passion.

On this event, during our discovery phase, we learned that our MSNA executive was passionate about auto racing and we drew a connection between his business model and the inner workings of an auto racing team. Working with this analogy, we designed staging, costumes, and content to frame his business message to the MSNA sales force in relation to the Engine, Crew, and Driver.

Videos introduced each section of content. The Engine video featured auto racing aficionado Gordon White, and provided a foundation for discussing the structure of MSNA programs and tools. The Crew video, which showed the dedicated support required to keep the engine and driver in top form, transitioned smoothly into how Microsoft corporate supports the field. And finally, the Driver video told the incredible success story of Mario Andretti (without ever saying who he was) prior to his entrance to stage. This set up our executive to address the audience as the drivers for MSNA.

Score: When surprise guest speaker Mario Andretti appeared on stage, the audience responded with a three minute standing ovation. Later, our client told us he believed it was his best keynote to date.
