Microsoft Incentive Program Award Event, Sydney, Australia
Remember the classic Mission Impossible theme music? That’s the sound we heard when we got the call for this project.
When our Microsoft client introduced an exciting new sales incentive award, he didn’t expect anyone to win it. But an all-expense paid week for two in Sydney, Australia proved to be catnip to his sales force and several people claimed the prize. When we got the call, our direction was simply, “We’re going to Sydney. Figure out something spectacular for the last night.”
And so we did. After a whirlwind site survey looking for the perfect spot, we chose Sydney’s Fleet Steps at the Royal Botanic Gardens, an expansive space offering stunning views of Sydney Harbor, the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge. With the location secured, the work began. Creative development and production needs required transpacific coordination with top crews on both continents.

Inspired by Australia’s history, culture, and breathtaking beauty, we produced a pure Aussie experience for our special award winners. We turned the Fleet Steps into a magical atmosphere of Aboriginal Dreamtime, and wove storytelling and live didgeridoo and opera performances, together with a wildly bizarre finale featuring the Australian avant-garde performance group, Spheres. And all this against the magnificent backdrop of Sydney’s famous harbor.
Score: As guests were leaving the party, after a few hours of dancing under the stars on this pitch perfect night, we heard the words we live for: “That was the best event I’ve ever been to.”
